Halifax's historic Piece Hall was filled with music, fun and laughter as crowds flocked to help celebrate the second anniversary of the restored building’s re-opening.

Visitors were treated to not just one but two days of free entertainment in The Piece Hall courtyard to mark the special occasion.

The first party event - which coincided with Yorkshire Day - included crafts, games, face painting, special workshops, talks and a book launch celebrating artist Chris Mould’s new illustrated book - The Iron Man by Ted Hughes.

There were performances from Backchat Brass Band and Tohr Paniabian Di Bhangra-Dancers, and demonstrations from new cycling charity Cycling Without Age Calderdale which was showcasing its battery-assisted trishaw, offering lifts to people with limited mobility.

Among those receiving rides was nine-year-old Teddy Fearnley Duffy and his 87-year-old great grandmother Sheila Collier. The pair share the same birthday and visiting The Piece Hall was their joint birthday treat.

On Sunday, the celebrations continued with a street festival of theatre, circus, music and outdoor performances as well as a host of tasty pop-up food traders.

Performers included slapstick medical roadshow Doctor! Doctor!, The Comedy Waiters, Dr Butler’s Hatstand Mediciine Band and freestyling wordsmith The Merry Maker.
