Attended by hundreds of visitors, both two-legged and four-legged alike, the Todmorden charity raised more than £1,200 and potentially found homes for three of its rescued residents.

The PAWS’ mascot ‘Bog Tod’ made his debut appearance – much to the delight of the children and their doggie companions. The day was a huge success.

Adults, children and dogs enjoyed the various events hosted by the charity, with something for everyone throughout the day.

Visitors came from across the northwest to attend the event and enter their dogs in the hope of winning a prize for ‘scruffiest tail’, ‘brightest eyes’ and ‘double trouble’, to name but a few of the categories.

With popular dog shows and classes, bountiful cakes, raffle prizes and plenty of fun for the kids, volunteers held the event to raise money for PAWS – a local charity that helps in the rescuing, re-homing and rehabilitation of abandoned and abused animals.

PAWS would like to thank everyone who attended, either as visitors or stall-holders, for their continued support. The charity would not be able to continue with its fantastic work without the help of the local community.

Sue Curran of PAWS said: “This year has been busier than the last. I just cannot believe the amount of support we’ve had.

“Thank you to everyone and we hope to see you next year.”

PAWS would also like to thank Longfield Equestrian Centre for donating their time, space and ponies to help the charity raise some much needed funds, as well as Oscar Dog Food who sponsored and provided the prizes on the day.

Run by unpaid volunteers, PAWS is constantly helping animals in need and is always fundraising in an attempt to provide support and help for all of the animals that it rescues.

This yeat, the organisation has raised enough money to become a registered charity. It is in the process of creating extended kennels for all of the dogs that need rescuing, and will be looking into opening up premises in the near future.
