Georgia Reddish, from Knaresborough, decided to donate her hair to the Little Princesses Trust after being inspired by her friend who supported the charity last year.

The Aspin Park pupil has also set up a My Donate page online and has raised more than £230 for the charity.

Georgia said she felt nervous before having her hair cut off on Saturday but was motivated by helping children suffering from cancer.

She said: “My mum told me about someone who did it a year ago and I just wanted to help children who had their hair falling out because of their cancer treatment.

“I had it cut on Saturday and I was a bit nervous because I have had my hair cut short before and I didn’t like it.

“But I just kept thinking about those children suffering and how important the wigs would be for them.

“I like my hair now and I’m quite glad, I just feel really happy that I have done it and hopefully it well help some children.”

Georgia also revealed that, when she was younger, she suffered from alopecia and felt sad and worried that her hair was falling out at night.

She said: “Luckily mine grew back quickly, but other children suffering from cancer are not so fortunate.

“My dad has said it’s the best thing that I have done in my whole life and my mum kept telling me how good it was to help people.”
