Emma Kovaleski, manager at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Charity, said the Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) and FC Halifax Town have partnered up to bring Christmas cheer to vulnerable patients at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Mrs Kovaleski said the partnership comes after the CFFC agreed to fund Calderdale businesses, including Harveys, in Commercial Street, and The Piece Hall, which will use the cash to provide gifts to the NHS Trust for the hospital’s most frail.

She said: “This time last year we were inundated with donations, but this year has been more difficult due to Covid-19 restrictions. We were contacted by the CFFC who agreed to help us provide good quality gifts to the most frail and poorly within the hospital.”

Spokesman for Halifax Town, Steve Nichol said: “It’s the FC Halifax Town Foundation, the charitable arm of the club that are working in partnership with NHS Trust.

“We hope this project helps add Christmas sparkle to patients hospitalised over the festive period and shows our appreciation for NHS staff who have faced an extremely challenging year. It really shows the spirit and togetherness of the Calderdale community.”

So far the CFFC, Trust and Halifax Town have raised over £5,500 to fund the project.
