The charity was founded in 2016, in memory of Naomi Cheri Gough, who passed away in 2007, aged 19.

Emmie and Bethany decided to embark on the hike after the charity’s annual Halifax to Blackpool walk was cancelled.

Rather than hiking to the west coast resort, Emmie and Bethany decided to trek around Calderdale, travelling 60 miles in three days.

The pair didn’t know eachother before deciding to undertake the challenge and along with some tired feet, a strong friendship grew.

Emmie, who lives in Elland and is 15, said: “It’s been really hard work. However it’s been really nice to be out and about doing something after being stuck indoors during lockdown.”

Eighteen year old Bethany, who lives in Queensbury, did the walk in memory of her cousin Lily, who passed away six years ago, at the age of six.

“Families don’t plan to lose a child and organising a funeral can be really expensive. The charity really helped my family and allowed us to give Lily the best send off possible.

“I wanted to give something back after they helped us through a really difficult time,” said Bethany.

The Foundation’s co-founder Bev Gough, Naomi’s mum, said: “I’m just in awe, the girls are just incredible. What they’re doing is really hard work, but they’re just so keen and buzzing to start each day. I’m overwhelmed by their support, without people like them we wouldn’t have a charity.”

So far the dynamic duo have managed to raise nearly £700. To make a donation, visit: www.justgiving.com/naomicherigough.
