Former Brighouse Gala Queen Emilie Large is hoping to rally up some support to raise as much money as she can for Candlelighters, a childhood cancer charity in Yorkshire.

The charity has been a great help for Ruby’s parents Andy and Stacy. Five-year-old Ruby, a pupil of Castlefields Infant School, Rastrick, was diagnosed with a tumour on her liver and had to undergo an eight-hour transplant operation.

Emilie is a family friend and invited the youngster to be her special guest at Brighouse Charity Gala in June. She went down in the procession and on the field they had buckets, collecting £115.72.

The 19-year-old wanted to do more and has organised today’s fun day at Rastrick Cricket Club.

There will be a bouncy castle, dance performances, bands and local singers, facepainting, and various refreshments stalls.

Balloon modellers, clowns, stilt walkers and children’s entertainers are planned for the big day.

Emilie said she was doing it for Ruby as well as Candlelighters.

The event starts at noon.
