Crowds rocked out at the annual RichFest music tribute concert organised by the parents and family of Richard Greenwood, following the 13-year-old’s death in 2011.

Parents Phil and Sally say the annual festival is an opportunity for Richard’s loved ones to come together and celebrate his life as well as an opportunity to raise money for a chosen charity.

Crowds, of more than 500 people, were entertained at the annual event by returning acts such as Small Words, Flaming Dragon and Avenue, as well as new up and coming talent including performances from The Write to Record, The Brigantes, Native Creep and The Phillers.

Young Ravenscliffe High School students Isaac, Zac, James and Macauley stole the show with a fantastic medley of songs which got the whole crowd going, said Phil.

Guests also enjoyed a variety of mouth watering real ales supplied from local breweries as part of a special beer festival which washed down curry courtesy of Kiplings, Sowerby Bridge.

Ravenscliffe was this year’s chosen beneficiary and is also where Phil now works full-time following a recent career change.

Richard’s sister Rosanna, who helped her parents organise the event, said: “My dad started volunteering at Ravenscliffe a year ago and now he works there. It is the most magical, uplifiting place and we’re happy the school is benefiting in my brother’s memory.”

Ravenscliffe head teacher Martin Moorman, said: “We were overwhelmed by the amount raised - the money will make a significant and lasting difference to some of Calderdale’s most vulnerable young people.”
