Dan putting in the miles to raise money for mental health charity

A former Halifax resident will be running or cycling 260 miles a month to raise money for mental health charity Mind.

Daniel Radley, 28, lived in Shelf until recently, and works as a sales rep for Kellogg’s with various Halifax businesses.

He recently cycled the 75 miles from Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium to Elland Road in Leeds.

“I’ve set the target of £750 and I’ve already hit over £600,” he said.

“I’m going to do three months I think and see where I get to.

“I was living in Halifax but I’ve had to move two hours away, but I’m still working in Halifax three or four days a week.

“I’ll do it after work wherever I am, which might be Manchester or elsewhere in the north west.

“I will be cycling in Halifax.

“It’s a big challenge as I’m a million miles from the peak of fitness.”

Dan says the challenges thrown up by the coronavirus pandemic have inspired him to try and raise awareness about mental health issues.

“I know quite a few people that have suffered with mental health, especially men who don’t always find it so easy to reach out for support,” he said.

“In my case, this year, because of my personal circumstances, I had to live for a couple of months in isolation, which was tough.

“It’s a really good charity and I just want to raise awareness of the work they do.”
