Capt Moore, a former member of the Dukes, has raised £29m for the NHS by walking 100 laps around his garden.

With the agreement of his family, the association sent a small party to make a presentation, which consisted of Major David Harrap, Major Simon Morgan and Captain John Hogg (carrying the Regimental Standard) and the CO of 1YORKS (Lt Col Badger Miller).

The gifts that were presented included a Regimental Tercentenary statuette, a cake with the Regimental crest and colours, which had been specially made by Betty’s of Harrogate, some Timothy Taylors beer, letters of congratulation from various VIPs including SACEUR (NATO: Supreme Allied Commander Europe), an offer of lifetime membership of the Army & Navy Club, and the WW2 Defence Medal, which for some reason Capt Moore seemed not to have, said the association.
