First Calderdale resident talks about having the Covid-19 vaccine

The first resident in Calderdale to have the Covid-19 vaccine has spoken about her experience.

Calderdale Council's Director of Public Health, Debs Harkins was there to meet Resham Bi, who was the first person to be vaccinated, and mark this significant milestone.

"I am the first person to take the coronavirus vaccination. All sisters and brothers come and take the vaccination," said the 86-year-old.

"The coronavirus vaccine is for the safety of everyone.

"At this present moment I don't feel anything, and I feel okay.

"When I came here it happened very quickly, and they administered the vaccination.

"With the will of God I did not even feel any pain while having the injection."

Resham, the first of around 1,000 Calderdale people who will be receiving the jab over the next few days.

Central Halifax PCN Clinical Director: "This vaccination has brought hope to the community and it has definitely been the light at the end of the tunnel.

"We're really very fortunate to have this vaccination and I'd encourage all of our population to engage with the vaccination process and take up the vaccination opportunity when it's offered to them.
