Gentleman Jack and Ackley Bridge nominated for RTS Programme Awards

Suranne Jones has been nominated in the Actor (Female) category for her portrayal of Anne Lister in BBC One’s Gentleman Jack – which also receives a nomination for Drama Series alongside fellow Calderdale-filmed series Ackley Bridge.

Written by Sally Wainwright and filmed around Calderdale and at Halifax's Shibden Hall a second series of the programme is due to go into production this year.

Channel 4 school drama Ackley Bridge, which follows staff and students of Ackley Bridge College, a diverse school in a fictional Yorkshire mill town, will also return later this year for a fourth series.

The show is known for its hard hitting storylines and has been praised for the way it tackles real-life issues.

Winners will be announced at the RTS Programme Awards Ceremony, in partnership with Audio Network, hosted by writer and comedian Paul Merton, on March 17 at The Grosvenor Hotel.
