Halifax Calder Rotary normally organise their spooktacular event at this time of year and help at the hospice’s Mountain Bike challenge both cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Geraldine Carter, Halifax Calder Rotary President, said: “We wanted something to get the whole community involved of all ages. People are able sign up and donate £10 on our JustGiving page and virtually climb the tower – that’s 403 steps.

“It might not seem much to some but will be a challenge to others. You can virtually climb the tower as many times as possible. It’s all about getting moving and helping Overgate.

“When we heard that all their shops had to shut again it breaks our hearts and we want to help in any way we can.”

Nikki Scholey, Community Fundraiser said: “Halifax Calder Rotary are such fantastic supporters of the Hospice and help us at various events during the year as well as organising their own events.

“It’s a great loss to the hospice that these events haven’t happened. This is a fantastic idea and something the whole family can get involved in and will hopefully raise lots of funds for the Hospice during the current crisis.”
