Halifax fundraisers Ben and Gaynor donate cuddlecot and bassinet to Calderdale Royal Hospital’s maternity team

The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation have donated a high quality cuddlecot and Shnuggle moses bassinet to the maternity team at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

The cuddlecot and bassinet are used to keep babies that have died at the correct temperature so parents can spend precious moments with them.

This equipment will make a huge difference for both parents and the maternity team.

Ben Moorhouse and Gaynor Thompsons daughter Kallipateira was stillborn in October 2018 just two weeks before her due date at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Ben and Gaynor decided to start a fundraising campaign in memory of Kallipateira to make a difference for other parents by raising funds for a new maternity bereavement suite at the hospital and this project is ongoing.

In May 2020, just one week before the birth of their rainbow baby Apollon, they launched their new charity, The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation, which supports parents who have experienced the death of a baby and helps to save babies lives nationally by supporting research through the Tommys Rainbow clinic and research centre in Manchester where Gaynor and Apollon were cared for and Apollon then born at St Marys in Manchester.

Trustee and Rhodes extreme challenge walker Ben said: “This equipment will make a huge difference for both parents who sadly have to use the facilities and for the maternity team.

“This is just a small part of the jigsaw in our plans to make the improvements that are needed at Calderdale “
