How you can sponsor the amazing staff at Overgate Hospice on International nurses day

Last month the Elland-based hospice launched their their ‘Sponsor a Nurse’ campaign.

The fundraising campaign followed the cancellation of several of the charity’s upcoming fundraising events due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the closure of its 14 charity shops across Calderdale.

Despite losing two big sources of income, the Elland-based hospice still needs to find a whopping £11,600 every single day, in order to provide their round-the-clock care.

A spokesperson for the hospice said: "For many of us, this crisis has reminded us that we need to make the most out of each moment, as life as we know it can change in an instant.

"Our patients are reminded of this every day, and our nurses always do their best to make sure that each day counts for the people who we care for.

"Today, on International Nurses Day, we hope you will join us in celebrating all of our loving, dedicated nursing team here at Overgate.

"If you would like to show your support, you can donate to our Support a Nurse Appeal and would be helping our nurses to provide a shield from this crisis, so that our patients can make the most of the time they have left."

Chief Executive Janet Cawtheray said the hospice has seen a significant change in the way residents and staff live their lives as this crisis changes from day to day.

“Whilst the news focuses on the impact of this pandemic, there are still people in our community living with life-limiting illnesses who need our expert care.

“We are asking you to Support a Nurse for Overgate Hospice - to make a donation to help our nurses continue the vital work they do for our community.

“Any donation, no matter how small, will support the continuation of care for local people when they need it the most.
