Loved-up pugs Percy and Mabel are announcing their engagement as part of the Pug Dog Welfare and Rescue Association Yorkshire’s (PDWRA) Valentine’s activity week.

Their owners Julie Goodall and Danii Clarke, who both live in Calderdale, met at a West Yorkshire Pugs meet up in Roundhay Park, Leeds and have now set-up their own pug meet up group, Shibden Pugs, and fundraise for PDWRA.

Amanda Brook, Yorkshire PDWRA Fundraising Lead, said: “Since lockdown our volunteer team have had turn their efforts to how they could continue to raise funds safely.

“We have moved our focus to online activities which has involved learning a whole range of new skills and dedicating many hours to build up our online community of supporters.

“We are having great fun hosting live games online on our Facebook page and are looking forward to more meet ups, and a wedding, in the coming months.”

The PDWRA activity week includes sharing your pug dating profile, colouring competitions, and photo shares as well as fundraising activities.

All this is happening on their Facebook page “Yorkshire Pug Welfare’.

Plans are focusing on a pug wedding just as soon as lockdown ends and it is safe to do so.

Lisa Butland, PDWRA Yorkshire Rehoming Co-Ordinator, said: “PDWRA is a charity dedicated to the welfare and rehoming of pugs.

“We are run entirely by volunteers and so value all donations,

“In the last two years we have helped 645 pugs, we are so grateful to all our supporters and love the creativity of their ideas.”
