The tiny kitten had no mum or siblings in sight so it is thought that he was most likely born to a stray cat and was somehow left behind.

Thankfully, a member of the public spotted the kitten in Thornhill Road, Brighouse on December 25 and contacted the RSPCA for help.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA, said: “The poor kitten was found out in the cold and alone on Christmas Day. He had gunky eyes and was showing signs of cat flu so we took him to the vets straight away.

“He was scanned for a microchip just in case but we believe he is most likely a stray kitten. The vets were able to warm him up and give him treatment for his flu and he’s already doing really well. One of the vet nurses who treated him has also fallen in love with him and offered to give Mistletoe a home when he’s back on his paws, so it really is a happy ending!”

Mistletoe has now been named Harold, and is recovering well and settling into his new home.

This winter, the RSPCA expects to rescue thousands of animals from neglect, cruelty and suffering.
