The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation recently launched as a charity in memory of Kallipateira, the daughter of Ben Moorhouse and Gaynor Thompson from Halifax.

Kallipateira was stillborn at 38 weeks of pregnancy in October 2018 at Calderdale Royal Hospital only two weeks from her due date. They both also suffered a miscarriage in May 2019.

Most recently Ben and Gaynor had their rainbow baby Apollon Alexandros Moorhouse with the care of Professor Alexander Heazell at the Tommy’s rainbow clinic in Manchester.

Ben, who created a new UK coast to coast walking record in honour of Kallipateira, said: “To continue our daughter’s legacy I will do everything I can to support other dads who have experienced the death of a baby.

“Dads are treat very differently to mums and I had little support when we were given the devastating news.

“The monthly meet up is just like a group of friends getting together, very laid back and friendly, we don’t sit in a circle and do any introductions.

“We simply talk about our babies and all help each other.

“I would like to ask all dads who need to talk to please come join us, we are here to all support each other, please don’t suffer in silence.

“During the main lockdown it may have been an even more difficult time for dads being isolated with nobody to talk to.”

The August meet up will take place at The Old Post Office Pub in Halifax on Tuesday, AOctober 6 at 7.30pm.

Those who wish to attend are asked to email Ben to register attendance for the charity’s COVID-19 policy, at [email protected].
