My Hopes for 2021: Craig Whittaker, MP for the Calder Valley

Who could have imagined at the start of the year that we would have a vaccine? The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is the fastest ever developed, and the UK is the first country to roll this out.

We have also seen unprecedented community activism. People across the Calder Valley have come together to help the most vulnerable.

This year, my office was inundated with volunteers who wanted to deliver food and supplies to those self-isolating. We have also seen local businesses going above and beyond to serve local people.

We also saw an outpour of appreciation for our NHS heroes. They have continuously gone above and beyond during this pandemic. Their hard work and sheer determination will never be forgotten.

My hope is that we can carry these positives into 2021 and beyond. Our current experiences will help shape a better and more connected future.
