My Hopes for 2021: Steve Duncan, Community Foundation for Calderdale

I hope more than anything that the weather in 2021 is kind to the people living in the Upper and Lower Calder Valleys.

Wouldn’t it be great if the brilliant volunteer flood wardens have nothing to do and Slow the Flow’s leaky dams lie on the hillsides gathering moss!

I hope that the roll out of the coronavirus jabs will ensure that as soon as possible we are all safe to shop, exercise, travel and eat out without restrictions and no worries of catching the virus or giving it to someone else.

In 2021 Community Foundation for Calderdale will continue to mobilise the generosity of local people to help Calderdale people in need – this is what we do, connecting people who care with local causes that matter!

We are thrilled to be working with stand-up comedian couple Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont to spearhead the Never Hungry Again Campaign in partnership with Calderdale Council.”So many generous people have donated to the £100,000 Appeal and in January 2021 this money will start going out to children and families in need.

I am also looking forward to seeing two amazing innovative projects, Totally Locally online (https://totallylocally.shop/) and Cargodale (https://www.cargodale.co.uk/), flourish.”The Community Foundation are supporting these fantastic projects which are
already boosting sales in local shops and soon you will be able to get your online local shopping delivered to your door on a cargo bike (i.e. zero emissions). How breathtaking is that!

On a personal note I can’t wait to see my team Leeds United live at Elland Road in the Premier League. I have waited over 16 years and it can’t come quick enough!
