I’d like to thank everyone in Calderdale for their outstanding kindness and resilience in one of the toughest years.

Whatever 2021 brings, we know we’ll get through it together, because our community spirit is one of the reasons why Calderdale is so special.

With our local infection rate reducing, the vaccine rollout, increased testing and the continued success of our local contact tracing, we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to enjoy greater freedoms as we move into spring and summer.

The winter months will no doubt be challenging, but if we all stick together and keep looking out for each other, we hope to have fewer restrictions and more time with our loved ones, and to start welcoming people back to our distinctive attractions.

We will continue our commitment to the Vision2024 for Calderdale and our core ambitions to reduce inequalities, tackle the climate emergency and support and rejuvenate our towns.

Our ambitious £558 million capital programme is progressing well as part of our commitment to developing Calderdale.

Major road, rail and transformation schemes are underway throughout the borough and will bring better connectivity and new investment and business opportunities to the area.

For example, the transformation of Northgate House in Halifax, next door to the state-of-the-art sixth form centre, is due to complete in 2021, bringing 700 workers to the town centre.
