The vandals broke through the glazed shop door in King Cross, Halifax, and after unsuccessfully trying to gain access safe, they made off with DVDs and clothes.
A passer by alerted the hospice team to the damage after noticing it on Monday.

Tracey Broadbent, Head of Retail at Overgate, said: “This is another devastating blow at what is already an incredibly difficult time. All of our charity shops are currently closed and no cash or valuables are left on any of the premises however it is heart-breaking to know that items which have been donated to help us raise money to care for local people, have been stolen.

“Despite this, as always, we are overwhelmed by the support from the incredible Calderdale people who have helped us to repair the damage and offered to help us fill the shop back up with stock when we are able to open. We would like to say thank you to everyone for their kind offers and words of support.”

Laura Golding, Director of Income Generation, said: “Whilst our shops are closed, we are expecting to lose over £120,000 in income and this damage means further expense as we are forced to replace the damaged equipment in the shop. However, we are so grateful to our community who hold the hospice so close to their hearts and we continue to be bowled over by their unwavering support.”
