Back in August 2019 Stewart Robinson was packing up his rides and attractions at Manor Heath Park in Halifax and little did he know that it would be 21 months later when he would return.

Having been packed up for all but five weeks last year and unable to return to Calderdale with infection numbers being too high he is relieved to be back with his fairground which opens today and runs until Sunday May 9.

“To be packed up for so long with no income has been difficult but the safety and wellbeing of the public has to come first," said Stewart.

"We are so grateful to Calderdale Council for assisting with our paperwork and working with funfairs in general to help them open.

We are so excited to be back and ready to welcome everyone to our attractions but we do have measures in place which any visitor must follow if they wish to come along and have some fun to make everyone as safe as possible.

"We feel we have done more than most to ensure our guests can have a safe enjoyable day out.”

The fair will be at Beechwood Park, off Heathy Lane, Holmfield in Halifax.

Anybody who has symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has had Coronavirus in the last 14 days are asked not to attend.

The rule of six will be in place and guests over 16 will be asked to use the test and trace application which is a requirement by law, so organisers advise visitors have the app on their phones or are prepared to leave details at the gate.

Facemasks are required when queuing for or riding all large attractions although under 11’s are exempt and are not required to wear a mask.
