Stay-at-home street party in Elland for VE Day anniversary
It was an especially significant day for Leonard Blakeborough, who has lived on Alexandra Crescent since it was built in 1973 and was just 21 on VE Day.
He was presented with a special cake thanking him and also a donation of over £200 for a charity of his choice.

Hide AdThere was a two-minute’s silence at 11am before Winston Churchill’s speech from VE Day was read out at 3pm. People were asked to dress up in 1940’s outfits for the event, which featured party food and drink.
