Calderdale’s most precious gems and proud heritage were on show for this year’s Heritage Open Days.

The week-long event saw places across the borough throw open their doors to celebrate history, architecture and culture.

Among the most popular attractions was Ann Walkers memorial, located inside the iconic tower at Lightcliffe Cemetery.
There were long queues of people wanting to make the most of this rare opportunity to see the brass plaque commemorating Walker,
Her relationship with Anne Lister, of Shibden Hall, was the subject of the recent hit BBC TV drama Gentleman Jack filmed in the district.
In Todmorden, the Masonic Hall - which is not usually open to the public - allowed people in to see inside the Grade II listed building.
Built in 1862, it was the first purpose-built Masonic hall in the region and regular Freemasons meetings are still held there.

At Mount Zion Heritage Chapel, in Ogden in Halifax, there were guided tours of the chapel and historic graveyard and a display of Horace Hird ceramics.

Halifax Playhouse took part in the festival, offering theatre tours and the chance to see how a play is staged.
