Todmorden couple set for charity challenge for Cancer Research UK

A couple from Todmorden will attempt to complete a circuit of the Mary Townley Loop in a day on mountain bikes for charity.

Sean and Amanda Mclernon, who have two children, plan to do the challenge around the end of June.

This entails a strenuous 47 miles and a gruelling 5,800 ft of ascent, crossing moorland, bridleways and byways.Amanda joined the Todmorden Cancer Research committee 30 years ago and has been part of the successful fundraising team.

She is currently Treasurer.

Both her parents had suffered different forms of cancer, which is why she originally joined the already established local group.

”In this current situation we are unable to run events as planned,” she said. “Therefore we need to think outside the box to raise funds for this charity in 2020.

“All donations will be gratefully received and will enable the Todmorden committee to raise much needed income in these unprecedented times.”
