The Life And Times Of Captain Sir Tom will be shown on ITV between 9.15pm and 10.15pm on Thursday August 13, two days before the 75th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day.

It features Sir Tom telling his life story and the key events in his 100 years – from his beginnings in Keighley to raising more than £30m for the NHS during lockdown.

He said: “We’ll tell some secrets – not all of them.”

With unprecedented access to Sir Tom and his family, the documentary “explores the man behind the medals and hears the NHS fundraiser’s unique brand of wisdom” – created by being an eye-witness to a century of British history.

Sir Tom was knighted last month in the Queen’s first official engagement in person since lockdown.

In the documentary, he speaks about his young life and the impact his grandfather, father, and his uncle had while he was growing up near Keighley.

Sir Tom served in the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment during the Second World War.
