A two-year-old boy left his house and walked along a busy main road in Halifax.

The toddler had been put to bed by his parents but escaped the family home and was found wandering along King Cross Road on Sunday evening.

He was spotted by Samran Asif and Haris Ahmed, who kept the boy safe while police arrived.

Thanks to Good Samaritans Mr Ahmed and Mr Asif, as well as staff at Tesco who gave the child food and clothing, he was safely reunited with his parents.

A police spokesperson said: “Many Thanks to Mr Samran Asif and Mr Haris Ahmed who stopped to help a lost two-year-old boy who was wandering alone on King Cross Road, Halifax, on Sunday evening.

“Our thanks also to staff at Tesco’s supermarket, Halifax, who opened the store and provided the child with suitable food, drink and clothing free of charge whilst his anxious parents were located.”
