A musically-talented medical secretary has raised £1,000 for pancreatic cancer research.

Louise Taylor, of Elland, embarked on a life-long dream to produce piano after being inspired by her late mother Veronika, who suffered from the disease.

Louise has been a talented pianist from an early age, and likes to spend time arranging reflective piano pieces from less well-known or forgotten composers.

The Spire Hospital employee has raised nearly £1,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Research through CD sales, and is looking to promote its namesakes awareness month, which runs throughout November.

Around 9,000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year, and only three in 100 people diagnosed will live for five years or more.

Maggie Blanks, CEO of Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, said: “Louise’s talents will help us to fund world-leading research into pancreatic cancer and we’re grateful for her support.”
