Plenty of laughs in store with The Victoria Theatre’s star-studded line-up

A right barrel of laughs is lined up for the forthcoming season at The Victoria Theatre in Halifax.

Some of the country’s top comedians are set to bring their chuckle-filled shows to the theatre over the next few months.

They include QI panellist and former Jonathan Creek star Alan Davies. who will be making a long-awaited return to live stand up on Friday, November 30 with his show Life is Pain 2012. Tickets are £24.

November will also see Jack Dee soming to The Victoria.

After a six-year absence from stand-up, he will be back, agonising over the slightest of annoymances and misdemeanours.

He has been spending recent yeard appearing on shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 Our of 10 Cats and Have I Got News For You, while also hosting BBC Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I haven’t A Clue.

He co-write and starred in four series of BBC 2 sitcom Lead Balloon and has also written his memoirs entitled Thanks For Nothing.

His show will take place on November 20and tickets are £21.

Winner of Dave’s Funniest Joke Of The Fringe Award 2012, Stewart Francis will perform Oustanding in his Field on September 29.

The king of the one-liners and star of BBC’s Mock The Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Live At The Apollo was praised for his joke: “You know who really gives kids a bad name? Posh and Becks.”

Stewart moved to the UK from his native Canada three years ago and before long had established himseld as a popular stand-up. Tickets for his show are £18.50.

Jimmy Carr will be bringing his brand new show Gagging Order to the theatre on Friday, October 12.

It will be packed with one-liners, stories and jokes, described as “some rude, some clever and some totally unacceptable”. Tickets are £25.

On October 31, multi-award winning Welsh wonder Rhod Gilbert will be performing.

He has had several sell-out UK tours and best-selling stand-up DVDs and is known for his rants on life’s minor irritations but this year he is promising The Man with the Flaming Battenburg Tattoo will reflect his more laid-back and mellow attitude. Tickets are £25.

Fresh from a six-part BBC 1 series, Kevin Bridges is also aimign to brign a smile to his audience’s faces at The Victoria when he brings The Story Continues... on November 21.

He made his debut three years ago on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and has been going from strength to strength ever since, hosting the Bafta-nominated Live At The Apollo and Channel 4’s Stand-Up for the Week. Tickets for his show are £21.

And she may not be coming until next year but it is advised to book early for Sarah Millican’s Homebird UK tour.

Tickets are already on sale for her show at The Victoria Theatre on May 5 2014.

Since winning the 2008 if.comedy Best Newcomer Award for her debut solo show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Sarah has fast established herself as a household name. She has notched up countless appearances on top comedy shows as well as having her own six-part series, The Sarah Millican Television Programme.
