Police appeal after man hurt in Rishworth robbery attack

A man was injured in an attempted robbry in Rishworth on Saturday.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the attack, which happened at around 10.30pm as the 18-year-old victim was walking along Shaw Lane.

Two males are believed to have approached him from behind and hit him with a wooden stick before making demands for property from the man, who suffered bruising.

The assailants made off on foot up Shaw Lane towards Rishworth New Road, police said.

Det Sgt Ross Wadsworth, of Calderdale District CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward.

“I would also urge people to think back, to if they may have seen the victim, or offenders in the time before or after the offence in the local area. Enquiries are ongoing.”
