Police appeal after report of man in van offering lifts to schoolgirl, 11, in West Yorkshire

West Yorkshire Police have issued a warning after a man in a white transit van offered lifts to schoolgirls.

Police took a report from the parents of an 11-year-old girl who had reportedly been approached by a man in a white transit van.

The incident happened around 3.45pm on Tuesday near Meltham CofE School on Holmfirth Road.

Police said the girl arrived home safe and well despite the incident.

A spokeswoman from the police said: "Anyone who witnessed the suspicious incident or has seen a white transit van acting suspiciously is asked to contact police on 101 or use the live chat facility at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/contactus quoting log 1159 8 September."

Police confirmed enquiries are ongoing.
