Police called to crash in Greetland over the weekend

Police were called to the scene of a crash in Greetland on Sunday.

The incident happened on Turbury Lane at 8.55pm to reports of a road traffic collision.

It is not believed anyone was injured during the incident.

Local resident Jane Shackleton said: “I heard a massive bang, a boom, a very unusual sound, and all the power went off.

“I rang National Grid and explained what had happened and they said they would send someone out.

“I walked down to the scene and the police and Northern Powergrid were there.

“Someone had come so fast, missed the turn and went straight through the bridge wall, through the telegraph pole and took the power out.

“The car finished upside down. The police blocked the road off and the power was out for about three hours.”
