Confusion reigns in Halifax town centre on the first weekend since Calderdale Council’s parking blunder was revealed.
Police have been patrolling the town centre to advise motorists on the regulations in an attempt to prevent motorists from parking inconsiderately or dangerously.
PC Cameron Buchan said that some shoppers were under the impression that they could park wherever they want following the temporary removal of on-street charges earlier this week until further notice.
PC Buchan said: “There appears to be a higher than usual number of people causing an obstruction by parking on double yellow lines.”
He encouraged motorists to park considerately and pay attention to other road users and pedestrians.
