West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to a burglary that took place at the CO-OP in School Street, Denholme, on Saturday, April 13.

At approximately 12:50am the property was attacked by an unknown number of suspects who forced the metal shutter in order to gain entry to the shop. Once inside, they attached a heavy duty metal chain around the standalone ATM Cash Machine.

The suspects are believed to have then used a blue and silver 4x4 Mitsubishi Pajero to drag the cash machine out of the premises causing substantial damage to the front of the store. The cash machine was left abandoned in the road when the suspects’ attempt to steal it were unsuccessful.

A witness has described seeing three men acting immediately after the offence on Knowles Street, getting into a silver five-door vehicle, possibly a Ford Focus, before heading out of Denholme at speed towards Halifax. The Mitsubishi Pajero was later found abandoned on Knowles Street and was confirmed to have been stolen from the Wibsey area overnight on Friday, April 11, to Saturday, April 12.

Officers would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crime or can offer any information in relation to this incident. Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 120 Harvey at Keighley CID on 01535 617083 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
