Police launch appeal after body found in Leeds woods

Police are appealing for information following the discovery of a man’s body in woods in Leeds today.

Officers were called at 8.18am after the body was found by two teenage schoolboys in woods near the junction of Gledhow Valley Road and Gledhow Lane in Chapel Allerton.

A scene has been established and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the man’s death.

His identity is currently unknown. He is described as having short dark hair and wearing dark clothing.

Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of Leeds District CID, said: “Our enquiries at a very early stage and we are currently treating the death as unexplained. We would like to hear from anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation, particularly anyone who saw or heard anything in the area over the last twenty four hours.”
