TWO people have been arrested over a street attack which left a man with serious head injuries.
Detectives were yesterday questioning a 35-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman about the assault near Roxy Venue in Wharf Street, Sowerby Bridge, on Saturday night.
The man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and the woman was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
Meanwhile the victim of the attack is still recovering in Leeds General Infirmary where his condition was yesterday described as serious but stable.
He is believed to be Richard Reynolds, 42, who works as a self-employed tree surgeon and is a former paratrooper.
Andrew Crabtree, who runs Andrew’s Tree Services in Ripponden, is a friend of Mr Reynolds.
He said: “He’s a really good lad. I’ve known him for a long time.
“It’s a horrible thing to have happened.”
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack, at 9.45pm on Friday, to get in touch.
Anyone who can help should call Calderdale CID on 01422 337085 or CrimeStoppers, where information can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 55511.
