These dramatic pictures, shared by West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Team, show the wreckage after the crash at Junction 24 at Ainley Top on Tuesday.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's motorway patrol joined Highways staff, paramedics and firefighters at the scene.
Police thanked a passing lorry driver and motorist who stopped to help the van driver before the emergency services arrived.
