Social workers from Calderdale Council have received national recognition for their support of vulnerable adults, children and families.
Rob Mitchell was named the Gold award winner in the Principal Social Worker of the Year category, while Bernadette Johansen also picked up the Silver Principal Social Worker of the Year award during the prestigious Social Worker of the Year Awards event in London.
Rob, who is the Principal Social Worker for Adult Services at the Calderdale Council, has worked tirelessly to raise the profile of the profession at both a national and regional level.
“I feel honoured and privileged to win this award. It’s a profession that means everything to me, so to be recognised by fellow social workers and other professionals is amazing really,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bernadette Johansen is Calderdale’s Principal Social for Children’s Services and was recognised for her continuous commitment to improve her team’s social work practice for the benefit of service users.
“I’m really pleased to be recognised after so many years in social work, it’s really nice,” she said.
