Council Tax scam alert issued in Calderdale

Calderdale Council has issued a warning to residents about a potential scam regarding payments and refunds for their Council Tax.

The scam asks residents for their bank details as they are due money back because due to an overpayment.

The warning on the Calderdale Council says: “The Council has become aware of a number of phishing emails that have been issued by a company called Unity Partnership , requesting bank details, as there is a credit due to the customer for overpayment of Council Tax.

“All communications regarding a refund will come direct from the Council and in the form of an amended bill, not another company.”
