Date set for future development of land in Calderdale
The government requires local councils to produce a Local Plan which identifies land to meet their requirements for new housing and economic development, over the next 15 years.
The latest estimates indicate that Calderdale will need over 17,000 new houses by 2032.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing and Environment, Councillor Daniel Sutherland said: “Our Local Plan must identify enough land for the development we need, whilst at the same time protecting our green spaces.
“This is a painstaking and detailed process, which relies on the evidence gathered by our planning team, together with the comments which we receive from our residents and local businesses.
“These are important choices about future development across Calderdale and it’s vital that everyone makes the most of their opportunity to participate.”

A six week public consultation on the draft plan will then take place from April to May 2017.
Comments from the consultation will be reviewed and the draft Local Plan will be revised where necessary between May and September 2017.
The Local Plan will then be considered by both the Cabinet and the Council who will agree its publication.
