Proposals for new cricket club to go before committee

Calderdale Council’s planning committee is set to decide if land in Brighouse will see a new cricket club built including formation of car park, access and siting of ten storage containers.

The application by Augustinians Cricket Club will see the club built on land at the rear of Woodhouse Gardens, with officers recommending approval of the proposals.

However, the plans have met with opposition.

Jacquie Hellowell, on behalf of the residents of Woodhouse Gardens, said: “This development is neither warranted nor supported by the residents of Woodhouse and there are many valid objections based around planning matters.

“The planning process cannot take into account things other than planning law and yet there are serious concerns by the residents about this in relation to other matters.” The committee will decide on Tuesday August 26.
