Senior Government Minister visits Calderdale high school

The Culture Secretary was in Calderdale yesterday (Thursday) visiting a high school.

Michelle Donelan, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, was at Rastrick High School along with MP for the Calder Valley Craig Whittaker.

Mr Whittaker said: “We visited Rastrick High School’s incredible new 3G pitch and grass pitch facility which opened earlier this year in partnership with Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, West Riding FA and The Football Foundation.

“It is not just for school students, it is a community asset which is used by a number of local clubs such as Rastrick Junior Football Club and Clifton Rangers YFC.”

Rastrick High School won more than half a million pounds for the new sports pitch from the Football Foundation last year.

It said then that as well as being an outstanding asset for the students at the school, it would be an excellent sports and exercise facility for the community.
