Post office may return - to its old address...!

The Post Office is proposing to move Brighouse Post Office - back to its original offices in Park Street nine years after it closed .

The proposals are to move operations from its current location in the Wellington Arcade 160 metres away to the old Post Office building which closed suddenly in 2007.

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend the service hours for customers, the new Brighouse Post Office would have five serving positions, a mixture of two new style open-plan positions, two secure fortress positions and a combi-counter, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the retail till. The same wide range of Post Office services would remain on offer.

Suzanne Richardson, Area Manager, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Brighouse and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”

Should the move go ahead, the branch would be open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.
