Project to help our veterans

A new initiative was launched this week to support military veterans affected by alcohol use.

Lifeline Project, a charity which works to tackle the issues surrounding drug and alcohol misuse, set up MARCH (Military Achieving Recovery and Choosing Health) using funding from the Armed Forces Covenant.

A spokesperson said: “MARCH is a specialist service, working across Calderdale, Bradford and Rotherham, which aims to reduce alcohol-related harm and improve the employability, health and well-being and family relationships of veterans affected by alcohol and offending. Part of the funding will provide training to services working within the criminal justice system, ensuring veterans with alcohol issues and involved in offending behaviour are identified and offered support at the earliest opportunity.”

The launch of the project was held on Monday at Orange Box Young People’s Centre, Halifax.
