Purse muggers attack woman in town centre

POLICE are hunting two purse muggers who attacked a woman in Halifax town centre.

The victim was on Northgate next to the traffic lights at the junction with North Bridge between 2.30pm and 2.40pm on Wednesday when she was approached from behind by two men.

One nudged her right shoulder and as she turned to look, the other man took her pink purse out of her hand.

Both men then ran away, police believe in the direction of Dean Clough.

The first man is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall and slim. He has a gaunt face and is aged in his late teens to early 20s. He has short blonde hair which is flat on top.

He was clean shaven and was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a black Adidas top as well as white trainers.

The second man is white and of similar height and build. He is thought to be slightly older than the first man and with longer and darker hair. He was wearing dark clothes.

Police are particularly keen to speak to any motorists who may have been at the traffic lights and may have witnessed the incident.
