Queensbury bus blaze brings traffic to a halt

Firefighters were called to extinguish a fire on a school bus which caught light at Queensbury, the incident causing traffic tailbacks until the road re-opened at around 4.45pm.

West Yorkshire Fire Service crews from Fairweather Green and Halifax attended the blaze after being called out to Highfield Terrace, Queensbury, at 3.44pm this afternoon (November 27).

A spokesperson said 20 per cent of engine compartment of the double decker bus was involved in fire, which was extinguished using two breathing apparatus and two hose reels.

It is believed the school bus caught fire while at Fleet Lane bus stop having climbed the hill from Boothtown, Halifax.
