Racing to bike-themed carnival

Thousands of people flocked to a bike-themed carnival in Calderdale to celebrate the Tour de France.Mytholmroyd Gala was held on Saturday and Sunday and was home to the spectator hub, with a 20 square screen that was attended by the Le Tour race fans.George Sumner, chairman of the Mytholmroyd Gala, said: 

“It was a fantastic day, with great entertainment.“About 4,000 people turned up during the weekend and there was a good atmosphere.”The pride of the procession was led by this year’s Gala Queen Elsa Wilson.X Factor star Bonnie rocked the stage, followed by performances from Ignition, Lottie Brown and Black Lace star Dene Michael, ‘Mr Agadoo’ himself.The gala held their own version of the show, as they ran the ‘M Factor’ competition, that was won by solo artist Jay.After the race flew through, at about 2.00pm, the people lining the streets walked to the field on Burnley Road to enjoy the finishing scenes of stage two on the big screen.
