Reaching new fountain height at Castle Carr

Castle Carr Fountain is set to reach its full height of 130 feet at a specially organised rare event taking place this Sunday.

The annual event is organised by The Rotary Club of Halifax with the permission of the owner of Castle Carr estate Frank Schofield and Yorkshire Water.

The walk starts at noon and sets off from the Cat I’th Well Inn in Wainstalls.

The five mile round stroll visits designated viewing areas along the way and is followed by the fountain playing at 2pm for around 15 minutes.

The famous local landmark was designed and built in the 1870’s and the garden consists of a main circular pool in the middle of which sits the single jet fountain which is the second highest in England, next to Chatsworth House.

The day promises to be a delight and suitable footwear is advised for all walkers as there are uneven surfaces throughout the estate and

Entry is ticket only, £5 for adults and can be purchased from the Cat I’th Well Inn, Harvey’s department store, Woodlesford Newsagents on Pellon Lane and The Crossroads Inn, Wainstalls.
