Remember those who lit up your life with Overgate Hospice

Overgate Hospice are inviting people to join them at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on Wednesday, December 7 from 6.30pm to remember those who have added light to their life.

The Light up a Life appeal invites people to dedicate a light to those that cannot be with them over the festive period. All are then invited to various services taking place in memory of loved ones, one of which is to be held at Hebden Bridge Town Hall.

Visitors will be welcomed by Overgate Chaplain Tina Turner outside the Waterfront Hall to sing carols, hear touching readings from Overgate’s trustees and volunteers, and light candles in remembrance. Following the service there will be refreshments and stalls all to raise money for the hospice.

The Light Up a Life appeal is always emotional, however many find that just knowing that a light is burning for their loved one gives them a lot of peace over the Christmas period, which is traditionally about family. It can also help for people to attend one of the services and talk about their loss with

others in the community who are experiencing something similar.

Community fundraiser Claire Howard said; “Light up a Life services are always such beautiful events; very emotional but comforting. It is important to us that our services reach those living in the upper valley of Calderdale and we look forward to welcoming as many people as possible at Hebden Bridge this year.”

For those who are unable to attend, there are three other services taking place, the first on Sunday, November 27 at Halifax Minster and two being held at Overgate Hospice on Sunday, December 4 and Thursday, December 15.
