Rescue team scrambled in search for vulnerable missing boy

On Saturday afternoon, the team received an urgent request from West Yorkshire Police to assist with the search for for a vulnerable, missing 14-year-old boy at Hardcastle Crags.

The boy had last been seen on the riverside track between Gibson Mill and the car park at the Hebden Bridge beauty spot.

His parents had searched the woods for around an hour, but couldn’t locate him and were becoming increasingly concerned for the boy’s welfare, so contacted the police for help.

Once deployed, several team members were on-scene within four minutes and proceeded to do a rapid path search from the car park to Gibson Mill, then returning via the riverside route.

Meanwhile, the remaining team members were on-scene ready to join the woodland search.

At around 5.45pm, the team received the news that the boy had been found safe and well in Hebden Bridge. The team stood down and returned to base in Mytholmroyd.

On Sunday, the team provided urgent assistance with the evacuation of a 24-year-old woman who had fallen and fractured her ankle at the Bronte Waterfalls, near Haworth.

Team members carried the casualty by stretcher to an ambulance, before she was taken to hospital.
